Medical marker pen are currently mainly used for positioning and marking in general surgery, plastic surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, cardiovascular surgery and radiotherapy, etc.
1. Check the appearance and structure of the pen
Component integrity: Components should be complete, free of defects, and all parts should be properly connected.
Pen tip and pen tail: There is no ink leakage at the pen tip or tail, the entire pen is not obviously skewed, and there are no obvious gaps between each accessory.
The quality of the ruler (if equipped) : The lines on the ruler's surface should be perpendicular to the edge of the ruler. There should be no obvious overlapping or broken lines. The lines of the same type should be uniform and consistent. The scale lines and numbers on the ruler surface should be clear, and there should be no obvious scratches, impurities or bubbles. The body of the ruler shall not have any cracks. The edge of the ruler should be smooth and there should be no notches.
2. Physical properties
Initial writing performance: Normal ink output within 30cm.
Writing performance: The lines are smooth within 50 meters without obvious fading or breaking.
Leakage resistance: not less than 10kPa.
Pen tip sliding force: not less than 5.9N.

3. Ink properties
Safety: The ink should be non-toxic, harmless and non-irritating to the human body.
Water resistance: During medical procedures, patients' skin may come into contact with water or other liquids. Therefore, the ink of medical markers should be water-resistant.
Easy erasability: The ink should be easily wiped off without causing damage to the skin, and no residue or marks should be left after wiping.
4. Nib design
Hardness and softness: The nib should have a moderate degree of hardness and softness so that doctors can easily control the position and pressure of the nib.
Pen tip type: Select the appropriate pen tip type based on the surgical requirements, such as fine tip, thick tip, etc.
5. Certification
Medical skin markers should comply with relevant medical device certifications, such as CE-MDR certification.

6. Usage and Storage
Usage method: Before use, clean the skin and let it dry first. Then make a mark on the skin with a marker pen. Finally, disinfect the skin with iodophor and fix the mark.
Storage conditions: It should be stored in a cool, well-ventilated and clean environment with a temperature ranging from -10℃ to +40℃, a relative humidity not exceeding 80%, and free of corrosive gases.
