Nitrile gloves are made of synthetic rubber and are often used as an alternative to latex gloves when someone is allergic to latex. They are also stronger than latex gloves, meaning they can be used more than once. They are resistant to oil, grease and chemical spatter (note: nitrile gloves are not resistant to ketones, oxidizing acids and nitrogen).

Puncture resistance and durability
Nitrile Gloves are much more puncture resistant as latex gloves. This makes the gloves ideal for medical use. Although if they are stored away from light and heat, they can live through their shelf-life (about 5 years) without tearing.
Barrier protection and chemical resistance
Nitrile gloves are ideal for protection against blood borne pathogens which is essential when working in the medical field. They are also recommended in work environments that require working with chemicals. Nitrile offers more protection against chemicals than latex and vinyl mainly due the gloves being thicker and the material composition, they offer a better defensive layer.

Nitrile gloves contain no latex and therefore it won’t affect users with skin sensitivity.
Comfortable fit and tactile sensitivity

COMPOSITION OF NITRILE GLOVES
Nitrile gloves are primarily composed of a synthetic rubber material called nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR). This material is derived from acrylonitrile and butadiene, which are combined through a process called copolymerization. NBR offers superior resistance to chemicals, punctures, and tears compared to natural rubber or latex gloves. It also provides excellent tactile sensitivity and dexterity, making it suitable for various applications. Nitrile gloves may feature additional additives such as accelerators, stabilizers, or colorants to enhance their performance and appearance. The composition of nitrile gloves ensures optimal protection and durability for users in diverse industries.
Thickness Options
The thickness of nitrile gloves typically ranges from 2-8 mils (1mil=0.001inch), with a higher number representing a thicker glove. For tasks requiring extra protection and durability, a thicker glove is recommended. However, for tasks that require more dexterity and tactile sensitivity, a thinner glove will suffice.
Textured vs Smooth Surfaces
Nitrile gloves come in both textured and smooth surfaces. A textured surface provides better grip and control, making it ideal for handling wet or slippery objects. On the other hand, a smooth surface offers better sensitivity and precision, making it suitable for tasks that require fine motor skills.
Raw Material of Nitrile Gloves
Nitrile gloves are typically made from a synthetic polymer called nitrile rubber. Gloves tested to this standard and certified as such will withstand at least 10 minutes of contact with certain chemicals. Their suitability is tested according to penetration time, degradation level, and permeation rate.
EN1186
Gloves tested under EN1186 are deemed safe for contact with food.

All protective gloves must comply with general PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) regulations.
