Periodontal probe
A periodontal probe is used to measure the depth of the gingival sulcus and periodontal pockets in millimeters to help evaluate the extent of periodontal support. The probe is often referred as the "stethoscope and dipstick" of tooth support.
Probes vary in cross-sectional design (rectangular/flat, oval, or round) and in millimeter markings at the calibrated working end. Some probes are marked in 1-mm bands , while others are marked every 3 mm .

Precautions
First use
All models are non-sterile and must be cleaned and sterilized before use.
If a cleaning machine is not available, you can do it manually by using a hard plastic bristle brush (not a metal bristle brush) and proper cleaning and decontamination methods.
The sterilization
Sterilization of the dental probe after proper cleaning is strongly recommended. Recommended sterilization parameters are set as follows: temperature 134ºC, pressure 2.1bar, time no more than 7 minutes.
The sterilized dental probe must be kept in a dry, dust-free, designated area.
The product transportation, storage, before and after use, use should pay attention to avoid strong collision damage.
Storage conditions
Keep the storage area dry and away from humidity and direct sunlight.
The product must be cleaned, disinfected and dried in time after use. The products with unopened outer package are guaranteed not to rust within one year under the condition of abiding by the storage rules.
Disinfection method
Can use high pressure steam disinfection, ethylene oxide disinfection. It is strictly prohibited to use chlorine-containing disinfectant (such as glutaraldehyde preparation) to soak and disinfect!

Cleaning

Periodontal probes should be sterilized after each use to prevent the transmission of infections between patients. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for sterilization methods, including autoclaving, chemical sterilization, or heat sterilization.
Storage
Store the dental probes in a clean, dry environment to prevent contamination. Organize and protect the probes from damage using designated containers or pouches.
Inspection
Regularly inspect the probes for any signs of damage, such as bent tips or corrosion. If any damage is detected, replace the probe immediately to maintain accuracy and prevent patient injury.
Calibration
Periodically check the calibration of the probe to ensure its accuracy. Follow the manufacturer's calibration guidelines or consult a qualified professional if you need adjustments.
