Packaging materials for bacteria are the "last line of defense" for medical safety. Choosing the wrong ones will not only lead to sterilization failure, but may even cause iatrogenic infections. The cost is much higher than the few extra dollars saved on packaging.

Selecting a supplier

Qualification Certificate: Does the product have a medical device registration certificate or FDA/CE certification? For export business, it is necessary to confirm whether it complies with the entry standards of the target market. The genuine medical crepe paper is managed as a type II medical device, rather than an ordinary paper product.

Sterilization compatibility: Confirm the sterilization method that the paper is suitable for. The majority of medical crepe paper is compatible with pressure steam sterilization and ethylene oxide sterilization. If your institution uses low-temperature plasma sterilization, ordinary crepe paper is not applicable (it will absorb hydrogen peroxide), and this is something that is very easy to get wrong.

Validity period: For qualified sterile items in packaged form, under standard conditions, the shelf life is usually 6 months (for imported brands) or 3-6 months (for domestic brands). When purchasing, please confirm the labels on the product packaging and the technical support capabilities of the manufacturer.

Excellent performance

Tensile strength and tear resistance

Many cheap corrugated papers appear thick, but they have short fibers and poor strength. After being sterilized under high temperature and high pressure, the papers become brittle and will break even with a slight touch, resulting in the failure of the sterilization barrier.

Selection Tips: During the procurement process, you can request that samples undergo the "wet tensile strength" test. High-quality crepe paper maintains excellent toughness even after sterilization (in a moist state) and can withstand normal friction during the transportation of the instrument packages.

 Water resistance (Tear resistance)
During the sterilization process, condensation water will be produced. If the paper has poor water resistance, the moisture will penetrate the paper and form a "wet package".
