Medical gauze is a commonly used medical textile. Below are a few common types of medical gauze:
1. Traditional gauze
Woven in plain weave with medium and coarse cotton yarn, with a sparse organizational structure. After bleaching and degreasing, it has good moisture absorption and dispersion properties. The product undergoes strict disinfection under high temperature and high pressure. Suitable as a base material for medical bandaging, covering, etc.
2. Elastic bandage gauze
Using strong twisted cotton strands or spandex cotton core yarn arranged in a left and right twist direction as warp yarn, and coarse single yarn as weft yarn, woven in a plain weave (or knitted warp knitting), the elastic elongation of the warp band can reach 50%, and it has the effect of removing blood stasis and bleeding when wrapping wounds.
3. Wound dressing with gauze
Also known as non sticky gauze, it is made by adding acetic anhydride to cellulose pulp, esterifying it with a small amount of sulfuric acid, and spinning it into cellulose acetate fibers. It has the characteristics of white color, softness, fluffiness, non-toxic, odorless, and non irritating to the skin. Its moisture regain rate (at a temperature of 20 ℃ and a relative humidity of 65%) is 6% to 7%. When woven into gauze and bandages, it has the advantage of not sticking to blood and purulent secretions, and can promote early wound healing.
4. Non-woven gauze
The medical gauze blank is made by using a cotton net and water to puncture and solidify it, and then bleached and disinfected for later use.
5. Composite non-woven fabric gauze
Laminated composite of cotton mesh and synthetic fiber mesh. The mesh diameter of the synthetic fiber mesh is 0.1-3mm, and it is formed into ripples through hot rolling composite to increase its longitudinal elasticity.
Medical gauze has a large quantity and wide coverage. With the advancement of textile technology, various new types of specialized gauze are increasing.
