1, Material selection
The protective performance of shoe covers depends on the material, and common types include:

Non woven fabric (PP/PE)
Polyethylene (PE) film
Half tread film material
2, Production process flow
① Raw material preparation

Non woven rolls or PE films are unfolded by a unwinding machine.

Add elastic materials (such as elastic bands, rubber bands) or anti slip particles (such as PVC dots on the sole of the shoe).

② Cutting and Forming

Stamping forming: The mold is used to punch out the shape of the shoe cover (such as a boot or a simple cover).

Heat sealing/ultrasonic welding: high-frequency hot pressing or ultrasonic stitching of edges, replacing traditional sewing to improve sealing.

③ Elastic band fixation

Insert elastic bands (or directly heat press elastic folds) at the opening of the shoe cover to ensure a snug fit around the ankle.

④ Sterilization and packaging (required for medical grade)

Ethylene oxide (EO) or irradiation sterilization, vacuum packaging.

Semi Coated Shoe Cover

3, Key equipment
Non woven cutting machine: Cut raw materials into the desired width.

Fully automatic shoe cover machine: integrated stamping, heat sealing, and elastic band installation (high-speed production can reach 200-500 pairs/minute).

Ultrasonic welding machine: no needle and thread stitching to avoid pinhole leakage.

Sterilization equipment: EO sterilization cabinet or cobalt-60 irradiation device.

4, Quality Control Standards
Protective performance

Liquid barrier: through AAMI PB70 or EN 14126 standards (for blood/body fluid penetration).

Slip resistance: sole friction coefficient test (such as ASTM F2913).

physical strength

Tensile testing (to ensure that the non-woven fabric is not easily torn).

Biocompatibility (Medical)

Compliant with ISO 10993 skin contact safety standard.

Extra Large Shoe Covers

5, Application scenarios and classification
Ordinary medical shoe covers: made of non-woven fabric material, used in outpatient and clean areas.

High protection shoe cover: made of PE film or composite material, used in operating rooms and laboratories.

Anti slip shoe cover: The bottom is designed with PVC particles or textures, suitable for wet and slippery environments.

6, Environmental Trends
Degradable materials: PLA (polylactic acid) non-woven fabric or starch based PE, reducing disposable plastic pollution.

Reusable design: wear-resistant coating+antibacterial treatment, extending service life.
